Fritz Demmler

• Born on the 2nd of April 1916 in Ludwigsburg, Germany
• First flute lessons at the age of 12.
• 1935-1937 study of flute in Stuttgart and Leipzig
• at the age of 21 solo flutist at the Stuttgart Philharmonics
• Military Service
• 1945 solo flutist at the Munich Philharmonics
• Since 1950 solo flutist at the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra
• Later on voluntary retirement and change to play the second flute because of his age. He remained on this position until 1982.
• 1961 doctorate for Dr. phil. with a work on Tromlitz
• 1961-1977 Professor at the academy of music in Berlin
• Died on the 4th of january 1997
