William Gordon
- Born in 1791
- Student of Drouet
- Co-inventor of the so called "Böhmflute"
- Swiss soldier of scotish origin, member of the Swiss guard of Karl the X. of France.
- After Karls overthrow, return to London
- Since 1830 first experiments on flute mechanics
- Had in 1831 two flutes made by Rudall and Rose, following his own model.
- His instruments are known for the new position of the keys and holes, which made a good intonation.
- In 1830 or 1831 meetin with Böhm.
- Died in 1839, after the outstanding success of building flutes had driven him mad.
